A loan of $1,250 helped a member to buy clothes in bulk.

Zainab's Group's story

Zainab has applied for a loan from Kiva's partner Asasah for the expansion of her clothing sales business. She plans to use the loan to buy a variety of clothes in bulk from the Ichra and Shahalmi wholesale markets in Lahore and sell them to her local area clients. This bulk purchasing will minimize her costs of purchasing and traveling.

Zainab, 56 years old, is married to M. S. and has no children. Her husband has a power loom (a hand-operated machine for weaving thread or yarn into cloth) business. Zainab has been operating her clothing sales business for over 30 years and has vast knowledge about the latest clothing trends and fashions. She hopes that an investment will bring many positive changes to her business, enabling her to live better and to save money for the rainy days.

Zainab lives in Kasur, located in the Punjab region of Pakistan, famous for its tanneries. Her home is in located in the small residential area of Dungipura where she has been living since her marriage. Zainab is a regular lender with Asasah and this is her 5th loan application. In previous loan years, she has proved herself to be a responsible client, never missing a single meeting and paying her installments on time.
