A loan of $725 helped to buy various kinds of toys.

Leonor's story

Leonor is a member of the Communal Bank "Santiago Apóstol" located in the district of Paucarcolla, province and department of Puno. She is 59 years of age, married and has four children. She finished her studies through middle school.

She transports various products from Desaguadero and Tacna in order to sell them in the city of Cusco. She has been working with the Manuela Ramos Movement for five years. The first loan she took out was for 300.00 nuevos soles which allowed her to expand her line of merchandise.

With this new loan of 2,000 nuevos soles she will stock up on toys for the Christmas season. She sells her wares as a street vendor. Her dream is to have a stall in Juliaca and thus improve her sales.

What she likes about the Communal Banks are the grace periods and the interest her savings earn.
