Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Sophia's story

Sophia W. is a married woman and a mother of five children. She lives in Gitiha in the district of Kiambu. This region is good for agricultural activities. She mainly relies on crop farming and has been doing so for the last ten years.

Sophia got to know about KADET through a friend who was already a member. She has never borrowed from any other financial institution. With this loan advancement she plans to expand her farming activities into dairy farming as well and so would like to buy a dairy cow for milk production.

From the profits gained from her farming, Sophia intends to buy a plot and develop it to achieve a higher income.
