A loan of $950 helped a member to buy necessary items for sweetmeat-selling business.

Shamim's Group's story

Shamim has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah for her husband’s sweetmeat-selling business. With the loan, her husband will buy necessary items such as sugar, milk, and dried fruits in larger quantity that will help him to make larger quantities of sweetmeats to meet the demand of his customers and to expand his business.

She lives in Khanewal which is a small city located in Punjab province, Pakistan, known for its agriculture industry. She lives there in a single-room brick house with her family in the area called Railway Landy. She moved here after her marriage to A. A. 14 years ago. She has given birth to 2 daughters and 2 sons. Her daughters are studying while her sons are too young to attend school.

She herself is a housewife and stays at home, doing her household work and taking care of her children. She is a regular loan user of Asasah and this is her 4th loan application. She is hopeful that this loan investment will be a profitable one for her husband’s business.
