A loan of $300 helped to buy 8 sacks of organic manure.

Samuel's story

Samuel, 36, cohabits with Flor, 35. They have five minor children that are cared for and educated in their own home located in the indigenous community of Centro Huachirik.

Samuel has been a farmer for 14 years. As a good farmer, he goes out every morning until dusk to tend to his coffee, banana and avocado crops all of which, according to him, require a lot of care because the weeds that grow among them impede their growth and he also has to protect them from the constant insect infestations that are common in the area.

Despite all this he feels “happy” to be in the countryside and when harvest time comes he heads to his city’s central market to sell all his products at good prices.

He is now saving money to set up a grocery store in his home to earn higher income.

This is his first loan with MFP and he is grateful for the help his communal bank gave him where he can interact to get ahead.

He will use the requested loan to buy 8 sacks of organic manure to spread among his coffee plants that will be harvested in a few months.
