A loan of $375 helped to buy organic manure and 10 sacks of fertilizer for his coffee crops.

Elias's story

Elías, 54, is a responsible, hard working man. He is a single father caring for three children. He cares for them and educates them in their own house located in an indigenous community called Centro Huachirik.

He has been a farmer for 38 years. His main crop is coffee which produces large profits because the quality of his product is appreciated by the association he belongs to whose members export the grains abroad.

He wants to increase the quality of his crops to the maximum degree since what he likes best about his work is to be recognized for his farming efficiency. As a good field worker he wants to go into banana growing and is saving up to buy small banana plants to start caring for them.

This is his first loan with MFP and he feels proud to be part of a communal bank where the members are responsible and committed.

He will use the requested loan to buy organic manure and 10 sacks of natural fertilizer (bird guano) with which to strengthen his crops of “Delimita” and “Cupacha” varieties of coffee.
