A loan of $200 helped to buy nylon and silk thread, clasps and needles.

Martha's story

Martha, 35, manufactures hammocks and matatas (type of woven, all-purpose bag). She is a widow and has six children. During the mornings she works at a health clinic and in the afternoon she makes hammocks. This is the source of income she counts on to support her children.

She wants to buy supplies to weave the items she has pending orders for but she lacks funds to do so. This is why she’s asking for a loan: to acquire silk and nylon thread in assorted colors, clasps and needles which are the things she needs the most to make the hammocks and matatas. The help will be useful for her to increase availability of products for her customers thus improving her sales.

Her dream is to work especially so that her children can become educated and have better opportunities in life.
