A loan of $1,300 helped a member to buy a phone set and calling cards.

Sakina's Group's story

Sakina lives in Lahore, Pakistan’s second largest city known for its history and culture. She lives with her family in the area of Shibli in a 2-room brick house. She is a seamstress and supports her family financially by doing sewing for her neighboring clients. She is good at her art and receives good orders every month.

Sakina has applied for a loan from Kiva's partner Asasah for her husband who runs a PCO (Public Call Office where people make calls and are charged based on minutes of use). He has rented a small shop in his area from which he offers his clients both landline and mobile phone calls. He also sells calling cards from his shop. With the help of this loan, Sakina's husband will buy another phone set and calling cards to further expand his business. By having another phone set in the shop, he will be able to provide services to many customers at a time.
