Copo De Nieve Group's story

The “Copo de Nieve” (Snowflake) Communal Bank initiated its 22nd loan cycle with Pro Mujer (Pro Woman), reporting to the Santiago II Office. “Snowflake” is a very old group that is well known. The bank is composed of 8 members, 7 of whom are women. The businesses they run are varied: selling groceries, selling CDs and DVDs, dressmaking, artisan work, selling cosmetics, and fast food sales in a micro snack shop.

Lucila, president of the communal bank, says she joined the bank thanks to an invitation from a girl friend some 9 years ago. Married, the mother of 4 children, her business sells general merchandise in a store located in a commercial zone of El Alto, starting some 20 years back. Lucila comments that this business was a product of her own initiative.

Her 1st loan was for 2,000 Bolivars. Now, she is requesting 6,000 Bolivars, to improve her store. Her sales occur every day during the entire day. To carry out the work she has the help of her daughters.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she commented 'the health training'; also, she said that the attention received in the consulting office is good.
