The excellent Juntas Podemos (Together We Can) group was formed on January 8th, 2010, and is composed of twenty women. It was formed thanks to the efforts of Sra. Amancia A. who approached the advisor at a credit renewal meeting she was holding in the area regarding the program for working women. The advisor was very enthusiastic and wanted to work with the group. Now they have been happily working together for three loan cycles.

The group is one of the best working with Kiva partner Fundación Paraguaya as the majority of the women in the group have been doing the same work since the time of the first loan, thus demonstrating their commitment and friendship.

One of the members is Sra. Amancia who earns her living by selling clothing on a daily basis to support her family. With the help of her friends in the group, she has succeeded in improving her business, updating her stock, and using other sales techniques.

Amancia is seeking a loan to buy more clothing such as t-shirts, shirts, pants, shorts etc. for her business as the high season for sales is approaching, and she wants to be able to fulfill all her customers’ orders.

About Fundación Paraguaya

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
