A loan of $725 helped purchase additional feed for the animals and expand his herd.

Juan's story

Juan is sixty-five years old. He lives with his wife in the village of El Clacke, which is near the city of Reque, twenty minutes to the south of the city of Chiclayo. All of their children are adults and live outside of the home. It is a rural region with small farmers and people who raise animals. Juan and his wife have lived in the area for over twenty-five years.

The couple raises animals. Juan primarily raises cattle which from which he harvests milk, and his wife raises fowl which she sells for their meat. The two are happy to be able to provide for their needs as well as to provide good examples to their children as independent workers. They hope to be able to retire on their business and in the future provide small inheritances to their children.

The loans will be used to expand their herds and purchase additional feed for their animals. They hope to be able to increase their herds before the holiday season in order to take advantage of the higher prices during that time. They also hope to improve their standard of living and better serve their community.
