Fatoumata Bintou's story

Mrs. Fatoumata Bintou H. is 26 years old, married and the mother of three. She lives in a traditional extended family with her husband, her children and several relatives in the second district of the town of Ségou (the fourth administrative district of Mali). Having left school in the 9th year of general studies (in Mali’s educational system) in order to get married in accordance with her parents’ wishes, she started her business right after her marriage. With 7 years of experience selling all types of clothing, she is well-known now and enjoys a good business reputation. In the goal of increasing her working capital so as to better meet customer demand, she turned to Soro Yiriwaso. She has been with Soro Yiriwaso for 18 month and obtained three solidarity loans, all well repaid. She is now on her first individual loan, which she plans to use for purchasing 100 infant’s outfits. She stocks up in Bamako. Mrs. Fatoumato Bintou H. sells for cash and on credit to a customer based composed mainly of women. She plans to achieve a monthly income of 75,000 West African francs, which will be used to repay her loan and to help her husband with household expensive. She strives to reinvigorate her business.
