A loan of $300 helped to purchase materials for the production of clothing and weaving.

Albina's story

Albina is a member of the communal bank, “Las Mensejaras,” or ‘The Messengers,’ located in the Juliaca District of the San Román province, Puno department. She is 34, in a common law marriage and has two children. She completed elementary school.

Albina has worked with the Manuela Ramos movement for one year. She tells us that her first loan was for 500.00 nuevos soles [Peruvian currency], which she used to increase the capital for her business of weaving and making clothing.

Albina requests a new loan for 800.00 nuevos soles which she will use to purchase material for making children’s clothing and weaving.

Her dream is to improve her business and educate her children.

What she likes best about her comunal bank are the meetings, the talks, and what she earns in savings.
