Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $375 helped purchase candy for her business.

Nancy's story

Nancy, age 30, is a simple hardworking woman. She lives in her own home with her husband Esteban, age 49, and their two beloved children Frank (age 13) and Mishelly (age 6) who are the main reason behind all her efforts. In the village of Kimbiri (which is part of the region of Cuzco) Nancy manages a candy shop. She opens her business early in the morning so that she can attend to her customers, who are aware of the quality of her products. They do not hesitate to buy everything they want. What she enjoys most about her work is seeing the smiles on the faces of her young customers whenever they try her delicious treats. Nancy has been in business for five years and considers the most difficult part is remaining at her business all day to wait on her customers. Within time, she hopes to improve the facilities in her shop so that she can provide better service to her buyers.

This is her seventh loan with MFP. Nancy knows that she has to be very prompt with her payments in order to access future loans. In her Communal Bank she is the most cheerful member and an active participant. With her loan of 1000 PEN, she will buy candy to improve her business.
