A loan of $1,100 helped to buy small electrical appliances which her customers have ordered and clothes to promote.

Beatriz Elena's story

Beatriz Elena B. lives in Costa Hermosa, a neighborhood of Soledad where she sells various goods such as electrical appliances, footwear and clothes. She set up her business when she was working in a footwear factory approximately 25 years ago. Through her business she has helped her siblings and bought her own home which she rents out. She carries out her business together with her sister who is her principal sales manager. They buy their products in Maicao, a town in la Guajira to which they travel twice a month to buy electrical appliances, footwear and clothes. They buy their goods in the center of Barranquilla where there are providers who give them special prices because they buy in cash.

This is her eighth loan from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo and she plans to use it to buy small electrical appliances which her customers have ordered from her and clothes which she is going to promote since the month of December is approaching and she must be prepared for the great demand for products which is getting closer. Beatriz Elena tells us that being a part of the programs of the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo doesn't only mean that she can access loans but also that she has the opportunity to undertake business training which helps her to understand her business and make progress in it. Her great dream is to support her sister in the purchase of a car so that she can have a well deserved vacation.
