Lane-Kuru Group's story

Meet members of the “Lane-Kuru” group from Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org, to apply for a loan of SLL 800,000 for each. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their businesses, make more sales and consequently improve their living conditions.

Fatmata K. is the leader of this group. The 32-year-old is married to a businessman and they have two children who are attending primary school. Fatmata has been a businesswoman for three years now; she sells rice. With her share of this loan, she will buy bags of rice to sell.
