A loan of $625 helped fabrics, hangers, and bags.

Judith's story

Judith is part of the communal bank “Esperanza y Fé” (Hope and Faith) in the community of Independencia. Her business consists of the sale, rental, and production of costumes and typical dress. She has worked out of her house for three years. With this loan she will buy materials to make costumes, hangers, and bags to cover the costumes. Her dream is to have an event-planning business, like birthdays and weddings offering full service (drinks, decorations, and activities) and in this way maintain the economic well-being of her family. She has two daughters who are seven and two-years-old. For Judith, “Fondo Esperanza” (Hope Fund) has made an important contribution to her business that has enabled her to grow and improve her quality of life. Independencia is one of the 34 communities that make up the city of Santiago (the capital of Chile). It is located in the central-north sector. It is characterized by the presence of buildings of medium height. Here you can find the Centro Cultural Indígena de Chile (Indigenous Culture Center of Chile), among six other historic monuments of Chile.
