Marta's story

Marta is a member of the communal bank "A Challenge for All" in the town of Puente Alto. She has run a bazaar and a parcel service out of her home for the last 7 years. She also sells pet food. With this loan, she will buy an ice cream machine and other merchandise. Her goal is to have a wider variety of products for her business. Her dream is to buy a car in order to purchase the merchandise for her business more easily.

Marta appreciates the support that Fondo Esperanza has given her through their loans and educational classes, especially their business administration class. She also values the friendships she has made through the group.

Puente Alto is a town located to the north of Santiago, the capital of Chile. It was founded as a small rural town at the end of the nineteenth century but due to its large demographic growth, today it is one of the most populous towns in Chile with more than 600,000 inhabitants. It is the port of entry to the metropolitan section of the Andean foothills, known as the Cajón de Maipo. This sector is known for its hiking trails, horseback riding and rafting as well as its hospitality industry.
