A loan of $1,025 helped merchandise.

Pamela's story

Pamela is part of the communal bank "Los Conquistadores" in the municipality of Puente Alto. For three years, she has sold used household linens, such as towels, curtains, sheets, and blankets, at a market stand four days a week, including weekends. With this loan she will buy merchandise and will also include used undergarments.

Her dream is to have a permanent shop, so that she could be there more days and more hours. Along with having greater opportunities for sales, this would be more convenient, on account of not having to carry her merchandise back and forth every day. Her principal motivation is to eventually enlarge her house, where she lives with her husband.

Pamela is very happy working with Fondo Esperanza, since they have been an important contributor for her business and for motivating her to continue growing. Puente Alto is a municipality located to the north of Santiago, the capital of Chile. It was founded as a small rural town at the end of the nineteenth century, but due to its demographic growth, today it is one of the municipalities with the largest populations in Chile, surpassing 600,000 inhabitants. It is the gateway to Cajón del Maipo, one of the foothills areas of the Metropolitana Region, with hiking trails, cavalcades, and rafting, among other activities, as well as food and lodgings.
