Olinda Esther's story


Olinda Esther is a member of the “Luchando por Nosotras” (Fighting for Us) communal bank in Yarinacocha district, Ucayali department. She is 46 years old and has two minor children. To help with household expenses, Olinda opened a small general store. She has been collaborating with the Manuela Ramos communal bank for 7 years and has used funds to stock her store.

The last loan she requested from Manuela Ramos is a small, 1700 new sol loan, which she will use to buy merchandise in Lima. She plans to buy clothes to see if they are profitable. She will start out by buying 9 dresses, 12 blouses, 15 pants, 12 polo shirts, 6 shorts, 6 denim skirts and 12 sandals.

Olinda plans to add another product to her business and she is sure she will do well. She is happy with her accomplishments to date. Her family is well and that gives her peace of mind.
