Delia Ercilia's story

The “Constructoras Del Éxito” (Builders of Success) communal bank meets in Portoviejo every two weeks. This city has been known for a long time as City of the Valley because the city is surrounded by many hills.

We find Delia, 32, here. She is in a common law relationship and has two children who are 10 and 7 years of age and who go to school. Her husband is a musician. She studied hair styling and esthetics at the Manuela Cañizares Academy in Portoviejo.

She is a hair stylist and works in a barber shop. On her free time and all day on Saturday, which is her day off, she performs these services at customers’ homes. She does hair coloring, hair cuts, applies nail polish and other tasks. She does most of these jobs at night because during the day she’s employed at the beauty salon. In addition to this she also sells natural products while performing the other jobs.

This loan is to buy natural products and to buy more work tools. She is a founding member of the communal bank. Her wish is to have her own beauty salon.
