A loan helped to buy merchandise (groceries) and small farm animals.

Adelayda's story

Adelayda is a member of the “Luz Andina” (Andean Light) Communal Bank. It is located in the Lampa province in the Puno department. She is 39 years old, married, and has three children. She has a third grade education.

She has been working with the Movimiento Manuela Ramos for four years. She tells us that her initial loan was for 300 soles, which she used to increase capital in her grocery business. She is requesting a new loan for 3,000 soles to buy merchandise. She will also buy small farm animals like pigs and chickens.

Her dream for the future is to become a quinoa producer in order to be able to export it.

What she likes the most about her communal bank are the meetings, the punctuality, and the ease of accessing the loans.
