Mr. Saom Sarun Village Bank Group's story

This village bank loan is made up of 17 people who live in Kong Noy village in Kandal province. Mr. Saom S. is the village bank president who has beE. selected by the other members. The group members will use their portions of the loan for different purposes.
Mr. Saom S. is a 50-year-old farmer who owns a 2.5-hectare plot of land to grow rice to sell yearly to support his family. At present he has a problem because it is time to grow rice but he does not have enough money to do this. Therefore, Mr. Saom S. is requesting a loan to continue farming this current year. His wife, Mrs. S. Art Horm, is a teacher in a local school and earns a low salary to support her family. The couple supports five childrE. – one is a seamstress in a garment factory, one is a construction worker, and the others are studying in a local public school.
