Mujeres Con Decisión (Cuenca) Group's story

The communal bank "Mujeres con Decisión" ["Women with Decision"] is made up of 12 partners. With their daily work, they look for personal success and the success of their families. Our members work in different trades and are very proud of what they do. They live in different parts of the city of Cuenca. This city is known for its beautiful landscape, its cold climate, its people that maintain its culture and traditions, and its great variety of cooking styles.

Mrs. Ruth Arévalo lives in the center of the city of Cuenca. She has been in the communal group for three years. At this time, she has a beautiful friendship with all the members of the group. This member has been a merchant for 18 years. She sells costume jewelry, as well as Avon, Esica, and Yanbal cosmetics, and catalog clothing. She sells her products throughout the city to her friends and acquaintances. Doña Ruth is 30 years old, is married, and has 2 children that are 14 and 6 years old. Her first son studies in high school, and the second studies in elementary school. Her husband works in a tire repair shop, and on the weekends he rents sound equipment for all kinds of events. She does not have her own house, so she rents one. She will use her new loan to invest in products for her business such as clothing, cosmetics and costume jewelry. Her goal is to have her own house.

Mrs. Ruth S. lives in the sector "el Cebollar" ["The onion patch"] in the city of Cenca. She is 36 years old, is married, and has three children. They are 15, 12, and 6 years old. Her first two daughters study in high school, and her son studies in elementary school. Her husband is an automobile mechanic. They do not have their own house, so she lives in a family's rented house. This member makes crafts and arranges bouquets of flowers for all sorts of special occasions. She has been working for six years from Monday through Saturday. The business is not her own, but there are occasions, such as this one, in which she invests her own money to buy flowers. She is going to use her loan to buy flowers. Her goal is to have her own house.
