A loan of $1,075 helped to buy remedies to protect his potato crops which he sows in 5 plots of land.

Fredy's story

Fredy is 27 years old. He is single and looks after his mother Ida who is 48 and his father Marino who is 50. They all live together in their own home in the town of Santa Clara. In spite of the difficulties which he has faced in his farming business, Fredy really enjoys sowing potatoes which is his main business. Every morning he heads for his plots of land where he looks after his crops with great care, fighting against the constant diseases which they suffer as a result of the region's climate. He has been doing this for 8 years, time enough to get to know the best sales seasons in the wholesale market in the city of Tarma. For this reason, he gets really annoyed when they insist on lowering prices. In the future he would like to buy his own land as he is sure that this would help him to make better profits. This is his eighth loan with MFP and he is happy to be able to save with his community bank. “We must always have money for any unexpected events” he mentions. With his loan he will buy remedies to protect his potato crop. He grows 'canchay', 'yungay' and 'andina' potato varieties which he sows in his 5 plots of land.
