A loan of $500 helped a member buy gallons of palm oil to sell.

Wan Word Women Group's story

Meet the members of the “Wan Word Movement” group from Magburaka, a town in northern Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org, to apply for a loan of SLL 400,000 for each. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their businesses, make more sales, and consequently improve their living conditions.

Kadiatu N. K. is the leader of this group. The forty-year-old is married to a trader and they have two children. Kadiatu sells palm wine and cigarettes. With her share of the loan, she will buy gallons of palm oil to sell.
