A loan of $1,050 helped a member to buy a fishing boat.

Bich's Group's story

Nine people make up this village loan. Mrs. Bich H., 50 years old, is the village bank president, having been selected by the members of this village loan, located in Preaek Bak village in Kandal province. The members of this village loan hope that the loan will increase their income to improve their families' living conditions.

H. and her husband, Mr. Kong Ith, are farmers who own a plot of land that they use to cultivate vegetables, peanuts, and corn for a living. Aside from farming, her husband also earns some profit through fishing. In order to support her husband's business, H. decided to ask for a loan to buy a fishing boat. This couple has eight children: one is a laborer, one is a farmer, and one is a fisherman. The others are attending the local school and also help with their parents' businesses.
