A loan of $1,075 helped purchasing aluminum and additional materials.

Nouhoum's story

35 years of age, Mr. Nouhoum D. is married and the father of four (two boys and two girls). He lives in a traditional large extended family in Hamdallaye, a peripheral area of the town of Sikasso (the third administrative district of Mali).

Not having had the chance to attend school and coming from a family of blacksmiths, he quickly learned this family trade early on and became a blacksmith as well. He purchases aluminum in Bamako in order to make various objects out of it (pots, tea kettles, plates, spoons etc).
With his long experience and good business reputation, he is very much in demand as clients appreciate the high quality of his service. At present, given his limited means, he is unable to satisfy the growing customer demand. He joined the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution over a year ago and already obtained a loan, perfectly repaid. And so, in order to continue growing his business and better satisfy the growing demand, he is seeking a second loan to purchase 950 kg [approx. 2100 lbs] of aluminum and some additional materials.

With this loan, he plans to achieve a monthly revenue of 300,000 West African Francs. The revenues from this activity will allow him to repay his loan and provide for his family’s needs as well as reinvest the remaining funds into this business.
