A loan of $300 helped purchase construction materials (cement, paint, sand, iron, etc. ).

Bernardo Tacalina's story

Bernardo Tacalina V. was born in the province of Zambezia, in central Mozambique. He is married and has 4 children, ages 9 to 19. All attend school. He only completed school through the 4th grade and did not continue because he was conscripted for mandatory military service. He lives in his own home and also supports his brother, who lives with him.

He left Zambezia for Maputo to complete his military service. He is a pensioner of the Ministry of Defense and receives a monthly pension of 7.328.00mt which he uses for household expenses and also saves a bit in his bank account.

He has previously had loans with other banks (BIM). He learned about Hluvuku through his niece who is also a client of this institution. This is his first loan, in the amount of 10.300.00mt, which he plans to use to purchase construction materials (cement, paint, sand, iron, etc.) to continue building his house.

He promises to pay the loan on time in order to have access to others. In the future he plans to request additional loans to complete his home and begin a business.
