Claribel Del Carmen
Claribel is 55 years old and has 4 children. Two of them are adults who have formed their own households, and two, aged 15 and 17, attend school and still depend on her economically. Claribel has worked as a teacher at the Cèsar Augusto Salinas Pinell School for the past 28 years, on Saturdays and Sundays. On weekdays, she works as a librarian for the Municipality of Nueva Guinea. This work provides her with a monthly income to support her family. Although she is a single mother, she has worked hard to make sure that her children do not lack the basic necessities at home.

This is the second time that she has obtained financing through Kiva. This time, it will be used to finish building the kitchen which she began with the previous loan.

Her dream is to continue improving the infrastructure of her home, little by little, and to see her children finish their studies, so that they will be successful people.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
