A loan of $925 helped to build the back portion of her house.

Melania Aurora's story

Melania Aurora is 38 years-old, married, and lives in the Laureles Norte neighborhood of Managua, a low-income area known for its high delinquency rates. Her husband works as a bus driver. They have three children, two of them married and living in Estelí City.

Melania bought a sewing machine when she worked at a free trade zone, and for the past four years has been in the business of sewing and selling clothes from home. She lives with her husband and youngest son in a simple house that they worked hard to build. She will use her loan to buy construction material to finish building the back portion of her house, to create a safer place for her son to play in, away from the influence of youth gangs. She says this will give her peace of mind and improve the level of their living and social conditions.
