A loan of $725 helped to buy boxes of beer and soda in order to increase her merchandise.

Pelagia's story

Pelagia is 38 years old and lives in her own home with her husband José who is 47 and her three children. One of her children is grown up and the two younger ones are still attending school. Together they work hard to get ahead. The day begins very early in the morning for this determined woman since, after seeing to her children, she starts work in her business selling soda and beer outside her house. She is very happy because her work makes her regular profits which allow her to help her husband with the constant household expenses. She also considers it to be a calm job because she can work from the comfort of her own home and not neglect her children. She says that she started out with some soda and now sells quite a lot, especially on a weekend. She has some regular customers and she offers them goods on credit. As the summer season is approaching she would like to increase her merchandise. She also plans, in the future, to begin selling some food products and ice cream. This is her fourth loan with MFP and she pledges to make her repayments in a timely manner because she doesn't want to let down the people who made the loan possible. The loan will allow her to continue working in search of progress. Pelagia is planning to invest the loan in the purchase of a large number of boxes of soda and beer which she needs to better stock her business.
