Violeta's story

Violeta is a member of the Pueblo de Indios Emprende Community Bank in the town of San Vicente de Tagua Tagua. She has run a grocery store out of her house for two years. Also at weekends she takes orders for pies and empanadas. Her husband who works in construction helps her with the business when he doesn’t have work.

With this loan Violeta will buy merchandise such as flour and drinks. She has three children but only the youngest who is 12 years old lives with her. Her dream is to own a breadmaker as she has studied baking, and this is what she most likes to do.

Violeta is very grateful to Kiva partner Fondo Esperanza as she obtained the loan without any problems. Also the interest rate is low, and the money has given her the chance to expand the business. When she first started working with Fondo Esperanza, she only sold baking which had previously been ordered.

San Vicente de Tagua Tagua is a town in the central part of Chile in the region of Libertador General Bernardo O’Higgins, located on the banks of the Estero Zamorano River. Most people in this part of Chile make a living selling lemons, oranges and avocados. .
