A loan of $700 helped to support her fishing business.

Noeme's story

Being a mother, 39 year old Noeme T. is concerned about the lives of her five children who still live with her and are dependent on her. Instead of allowing herself to get stuck in the middle of insecurities, in 2007, she joined KIVA field partner in the Philippines, ASHI, to be able to access a loan which will enable her productive self to flourish. Through previous loans she’s availed, she utilized them in her fishing business. The profits she will be getting would augment her husband’s income, who is a fisherman, and as soon as it grows, she will be able to support her children’s education until they are finished college and provide other needs in order to enjoy the gifts of life. By then, her role of mother will be fulfilled.

Her membership in ASHI and the loans she has had since she became a member assisted her in operating a business. Because of this, Noeme has performed very well in her repayment, attendance, and business, thus making her qualified for a higher amount of loan.
