A loan of $975 helped purchase of clothing.

Alima's story

49-year-old Alima T. is married and a mother of two. She lives with her husband in a large traditional family in the Pelengana Sud district of Ségou (the fourth administrative region of Mali).

Not having gone to school for social reasons and her parents’ illiteracy, she got into business early alongside her mother who used to sell condiments. After several years of apprenticeship, she started off on her own selling cups. She now sells clothing and shoes. She has run this business for 20 years and has many customers and a good reputation.

Looking to boost her capital, in order to increase her profits and meet her ever-growing customer demand, she turned to Soro Yiriwaso. She is on her first individual loan, which she will use to buy 50 sets of clothing. She gets her stock in Burkina Faso and sells for cash and on credit to both women and men.

With this loan, she hopes to make a monthly profit of 40,000 XOF. This profit will allow her to help her husband provide for their family and to participate in social events. Her ambition is to make her business sustainable and to build a house.
