M. Olivia, aged 27 years, is married with a family of four children and has been operating a retail shop in Omungyenyi trading centre, Ntungamo for over 6 years. Here, she trades in a variety of products, commonly household items like sugar, salt, soap, soft drinks, water, cooking oil and much more general merchandise. She is able to earn 150,000 Ugandan shillings on a weekly basis.

Her main drawback is that she has limited a variety of products in her shop that cannot satisfy the customers' demand. Therefore, she is looking forward to increasing her stock when she gets this loan and also to expanding fully. This will help her earn more revenue and sustain her daily needs and further educate her children.

She also belongs to 'Kabungo Women’s Group ' whose members hold each other accountable in paying back the loan.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
