A loan of $675 helped to purchase lottery tickets.

Blanca Nieves's story

Blanca M. is a member of the community bank named "Working Women". She lives in the downtown area in the city of Azogues. The city is located among the soft hills and valleys in an otherwise mountainous geography with pronounced cliffs and canyons. The city is a very beautiful city especially for its people and its culture. Blanca is 32 years old, she is married and she has 3 children, aged 11, 9 and 1. Her two eldest children attend a school in the city. Her husband sells lottery tickets, newspapers, and books. She sells the same types of merchandise and they both function as distributors of these items. They work from Sunday to Sunday, though they do not have a fixed schedule. They do not have a home of their own, so they rent the place where they live. This is her second loan she has accessed. She was originally invited to join the community bank by her mother-in-law. The funds from this loan will be used to purchase more lottery tickets for resale. Her goal is to purchase a house or a plot of land.
