Perlita's story

Perlita M. is 46 years old, married and has three school-aged children. She is from the village of La Torre in the municipality of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya province in the Luzon islands. Perlita raises pigs for fattening and sale. She has been in business for over ten years and earns approximately 7,500 PHP a month.

In 2008, Perlita joined ASKI to gain access to its financial services. She successfully repaid a previous loan of 17,000 PHP from ASKI that was used to purchase piglets to raise and sell. Perlita is requesting a new loan, her fourth from ASKI, of 19,000 PHP that will be used to purchase pig feed and other supplies. She plans to use the additional revenue generated to financially support immediate members of her family.
