A loan of $400 helped purchase of animals to expand her business raising and selling them.

María Olinda's story

Maria is twenty-three years old. She lives five minutes outside of the town of Morrope, a small rural village to the north of the cities of Lambayeque and Chiclayo. The population is primarily of low income and works in agriculture.

Maria participates in two income generating activities. She raises animals in the yard behind her home and she also produces artisan goods. Her animals include chickens, ducks and sheep. She raises them to the appropriate size and then transports them to the wholesale market of Chiclayo. The market is approximately forty minutes from her home, but is where she finds the most demand and best prices.

The current credit has been requested in order to purchase additional animals and feed. Maria hopes to be able to get a bulk discount on the food and raise the animals rapidly in order to take advantage of the greater demand during the holiday season.

The community has given good references for Maria and our analysts note her hard work and stead fastness. Edpyme Alternativa approves her request for the loan.
