A loan helped to provide additional capital for her retail (sari-sari) store.

Anenia's story

Anenia M. is from the Barangay of Manguehan, Lopez Jaena, Misamis Occidental. She is 54 years old, married, and has seven children. To make a living, she is presently engaged in operating a sari-sari store, which she has done for 14 years. Anenia earns approximately PHP 1,500.00 a month.

In January 2005, Anenia joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. An active member of PMPC under the PDP-LP Program, a microfinance program that reaches out the rural communities, she has repaid her previous loan amount of PHP 3,000.00 and is now requesting her seventh loan in the amount of PHP 14,900.00 to be used as additional capital for her store.
Anenia plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family, save for future use, make loan repayments, and pay for her children’s education, insurance, and possible business expansion.

About PMPC:
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) is one of the most progressive cooperatives in northwestern Mindanao. It reaches out to the rural poor using the Grameen model.
