Good Members Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you members of the “Good Members” group. They are small-scale businesswomen based in Magburaka town in northern Sierra Leone. They are requesting a loan of SLL 400,000 for each to enable them to improve on the size and quality of their respective businesses.

Adama J. is the leader of this group of entrepreneurs. Adama was born in Magburaka town. She is 41 years old. She is married and has six children. Her husband is a dealer in diamonds and her children are attending schools. Two of the children are in primary school, three are in secondary school and one is in college.

Adama sells fish, cassava roots and firewood. She has 26 years of experience in this business. With her share of this loan, she will buy cartons of fish, bundles of firewood and bags of cassava roots to add to her business.
