Loida V. is from the village of Maribucao, Gingoog City. She is 32 years old. Loida is married and has two school-aged children. To make a living, she owns and operates a sari-sari (variety) retail shop, selling daily use products such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste and snack foods in the local community. She is also engaging in buying and selling coconuts. Loida has been engaged in her business for over a year and earns approximately $100 a month for these activities.
In 2010, Loida joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She is requesting a loan of 5,000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional products to sell and as working capital. This will be her 1st loan from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated to improve her business.
HSPFI is one of the accredited partners of Opportunity International in the Philippines. It is based in Cagayan de Oro City and is reaching out to the poor households of Northern Mindanao.
