Pem's story

Pem S., 49, is married and resides with her husband and three children in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia, an area known for rubber plantations. S. sells groceries and raises pigs at home, earning an income of about 5 USD per day. Her husband is a repairman, earning an income of 4 USD per day to help cover the family expenses. S. has to spend 50 USD on food, 23 USD on electricity and water supplies, and 50 USD on other necessary expenses every month. S. is requesting a loan of 1000 USD to purchase containers to stock pig food. In the future, she would like to use any additional profit to repair her house. This is her first loan from CREDIT, a long-standing Kiva partner in Cambodia. S. appears in the photograph with her husband.
