A loan of $550 helped buy fresh fish.

Elena's story

Elena is a 51-year-old mother who lives with her husband in the fishing district of San Jose, an area that belongs to the province of Lambayeque and is located twenty minutes from the city of Chiclayo.

For more than ten years she has been selling salted dried fish. She buys fresh fish at the fishing terminal in the region and then processes it for sale to the general public and merchants at the various markets in the region. The income she earns from this activity serves to help her husband, who is a fisherman, with the support of the family economy.

Elena wants to expand her business by purchasing more fresh fish for processing and sale. She plans to increase her sales and receive more income with which to improve her family's quality of life. This is why she is requesting a loan for the first time from field partner Edpyme Alternativa in the amount of 1500 Peruvian Nuevo Soles (PEN).

Elena is a hard working woman and is devoted to her family. Those who know her consider her to be a good person who always helps out when she is needed.
