A loan of $425 helped to purchase products (rice, flour, cookies, soft drinks, beer, etc.).

Maria Da Gloria's story

Maria da Gloria Afonso P. was born in the district of Guija in the province of Gaza in southern Mozambique. She is a widow and the mother of 4 children between the ages of 16 and 24. Only the youngest goes to school. Maria da Gloria finished the fourth grade but didn't continue with school due to financial difficulties. She lives in her own home with her family and supports her niece who lives with her.

She left Guija for Maputo with her husband when his job was transferred. She has had her own business selling basic goods and beer for more than 16 years. She doesn't have any employees and she makes a monthly income of about 3,500 meticais, which she puts towards her home's expenses. She also saves some in her bank account.

She has never had a loan with another bank. She became familiar with Hluvuku through friends who are clients of the organization. This is her first loan in the amount of 15,000 meticais, which she will use to buy products (rice, flour, cookies, soft drinks, beer, etc.) to increase the quantity of her merchandise.

She is confident that she will make her payments before they are due so she can request another loan to expand some rooms in her home.
