Adelaide Rosa's story

Adelaide Rosa H. was born in the province of Maputo in southern Mozambique. She is married and the mother of 4 children between the ages of 3 and 15. The 3 oldest go to school. She finished 7th grade and didn't continue because of her parents' lack of financial resources. She lives in her own home with her family and also supports her sister by sending her goods and money. She left the city of Maputo for the city of Matola when her family when they were searching for better living conditions. She has her own business selling bedding and wallets which she acquires in South Africa. She has done this for more than 10 years. She doesn't have any employees, but 2 of her children help her. She makes a monthly income of 4,000 meticais per month, which she puts towards her living expenses. She also saves some in her bank account (Bim). She has never had a loan with another bank. She became familiar with Hluvuku through a conversation with a customer of the organization. This is her second loan in the amount of 20,400 meticais, which she will use to purcahse merchandise (towels, bedding, curtains, wallets, etc.) to increase the quantity of her merchandise. She is confident that she will make her payments ahead of time so she can ask for another loan so she can build a fixed stand and stop working as a traveling street vendor.
