A loan of $300 helped expand her merchandise and purchase additional feed for her animals.

Liliana's story

Liliana is 24 years old. She lives with her partner and young son in her own home in the neighborhood of La Victoria, just outside of the city of Chiclayo. Her home has access to city water, but no sewer or septic system. This is common in her neighborhood as it is one of the poorer sections of the city of Chiclayo.

In the back yard of her home, Liliana raises animals such as ducks and chickens. She also manages a small vegetable stand in the market in Reque (a town about 20 minutes from Chiclayo). She sells vegetables, which she purchases from wholesalers or local farmers. She also sells her animals to local buyers there in the market when they reach the appropriate size.

This will be Liliana’s second credit with Edpyme Alternativa. She has proven to be a punctual and responsible borrower. She plans to use the current loan to purchase feed for her animals and expand her offerings of vegetables. She is thankful for the opportunity to access credit at a lower cost through Kiva funding.
