Mujeres Emprendedoras Group's story

The “Mujeres Emprendedoras” community association, part of the Villa Exaltación focal center, is starting its third loan cycle. It is made up of 8 women, who meet every 15 days over 5 months to receive training and make loan payments. The directors committee consists of Geovanna, the president, Dolores, treasurer, and Soledad as secretary.

Geovanna is a young 24 year old woman. As president, she has the task of making sure the directors committee, group leaders, and members comply with the rules agreed upon at the beginning of the loan cycle. She has 5 loan cycles of experience as a Pro Mujer client. Geovanna was invited to join a Pro Mujer association by one of the groups of women. With respect to her work, she and her mother are vendors at the bazaar. Geovanna's first loan was for US$150. She is currently applying for a Bs.5,000 loan and plans to invest it in the purchase of her own merchandise to sell at the market.

The majority of the rest of the members works in small business.
