Chem's story

Chem S., 47, is married and resides with her husband and three children in Kampong Chnang Province, Cambodia: an area known for palm products. S. sells baskets, earning an income of about USD 3 per day. Her husband is a carpenter, earning an income of USD 2 per day. The family has to spend USD 83 on food, USD 10 on electricity and water supplies, and USD 25 on other necessary expenses every month.

S. is requesting a loan of USD 500 to purchase a plot of farmland to produce more rice. In the future, she would like to use any additional profit to repair her house. This is her first loan from CREDIT, a long-standing Kiva partner in Cambodia.
