Chel's story

Chel N., 45, is married and resides with her husband and four children in Kandal Province, Cambodia, an area known for fertile farmland for growing vegetables. N. sells sugar cane, earning an income of USD 3 per day. Her husband is a farmer, earning an income of about USD 3 per day to help cover the family expenses. The family has to spend USD 45 on food, USD 10 on electricity and water supplies, and USD 15 on other necessary expenses every month. N. is requesting a loan of USD 1200 to purchase more sugar cane to resell. In the future, she would like to use any additional profits she can earn to repair her house. This is her first loan from CREDIT, a long-standing Kiva partner in Cambodia.
